Hello! You are being invited to participate in this study which is being conducted as part of an undergraduate dissertation at the University of Glasgow. Before deciding to take part, please read the following information to understand the aim of this study, and what it will involve. Feel free to contact one of the researchers if anything is not clear, or if you would like more information.

What is the purpose of the study? The purpose of this study is to investigate the role autistic traits play in emotional perception of music. By taking part you are helping us conduct a quantitative analysis of this topic.

Why have I been chosen? This study is aimed at adults aged 18 and over, who live in the United Kingdom, and are confident with English.

Do I have to take part? Participation in this study is voluntary and you are under no obligation to complete it. If you do not wish to answer some of the questions in the questionnaire, you can skip these questions. You may opt out and close the questionnaire at any time. If you do not complete all sections, your data will be deleted.

Will my taking part in this study be kept confidential? The information collected will be anonymous. You will be given a participant number and no names will be stored or reported. All data will be stored anonymously, and confidentiality will be upheld.

What will happen to the results of the research study? The anonymised results of the MEQ will be sent to the developers of the questionnaire to be archived, and will be available for secondary analysis. The anonymised results of the AQ and MEQ will be stored by the University of Glasgow for up to ten years.
