Study title: The influence of face rotation on the attractiveness ratings of faces

Invitation and Brief Summary

I am Jiahui Cao, a master student of the University of Glasgow. I would like to invite you to take part in an experiment about attractiveness ratings of face. The purpose of the study is to investigate how face rotation affect the attractiveness ratings for a wide range of faces.

Do I have to take part?

The decision to be involved in this study is entirely voluntary and it is solely your decision whether to take part or not. Your participation status will be confidential between you and the research team. You are also free to withdraw from the study at any time, and you do not need to explain why.

What’s involved if I decide to take part?

Once you have agreed with the consent form, you will take part in an experimental study. You will see 120 images of a wide range of faces in different orientation, one at a time. As long as an image presented, you will be asked to give your ratings of distinctiveness on the image. You can respond to the whole task on your own pace. There will be no interval period or time limitation during the rating process.

The experiment lasts approximately 10 minutes. All participants will be sufficiently debriefed following the completion of the experiment.

What are the possible risks of taking part?

You will take part in this online experiment in your own laptop or computer, which would help us maintain 2-meter social distancing and avoid the spread of virus.

Who can I contact if I want more information?
