Researcher: Sarah-Jane Souter

Invitation paragraph

You are being invited to take part in a research project. It is important you read and understand the below information fully before deciding to give consent. If you have any questions or there is anything which is unclear, please feel free to contact the researcher (details at the bottom of this page).

What is the purpose of this study?

The purpose of this study is to investigate gender differences in judgements for self and other referrals. To do this, hypothetical scenarios based on the General Help Seeking Questionnaire (Vignette Version) will be used to explore these gender differences with 4 scenarios for each question. For each scenario you will be asked to rate on a scale of 1 – 7 your intentions to seek help, and your intentions to refer another, to a list of different help sources.

Do I have to take part?

No, all participation is voluntary and you can withdraw after giving consent at any time without reason. All responses will be anonymous providing you the reassurance that you can answer questions open and honestly without being personally identified in any way. You are free to skip any questions which may make you feel uncomfortable.

What will happen to the results of the research study?

The results of this study will be analysed and written up as part of a 4th year undergraduate dissertation project. No individual results will be reported, results will be summarised and will be statistically reported as mean scores.

Who can I contact if I want more information?
