This is my undergraduate dissertation project which is investigating if tasks that ask individuals to think about their personal value have an effect on individuals perceptions of a climate change message and their intention to engage in future pro-environmental behaviour.
Anybody that is over 16 years of age is eligible to take part. Participants will be asked to provide their phone number or email, as this study requires the participants to be contacted again to complete a follow-up questionnaire after the initial experiment. However, once participants have completed this follow-up questionnaire their contact information will be deleted and their data will be fully anonymous.
Every participant will be asked to read a message surrounding climate change. Before this message, some participants will be asked to complete a task where they’re asked to think about their values, while other participants will not. After reading the message every participant will be asked to complete a task where they list the thoughts they had while reading the message and will be asked to complete a series of questionnaires.
The study should take around 15 minutes to complete. A week after you have completed this initial experiment, you will be sent a text message or email containing a link which will direct you to a follow-up questionnaire to assess your behaviour. This follow-up questionnaire will only take 2 minutes to complete.
